Privacy notice

In short: we use your details to answer your enquiry and pass them only to the partner you choose. We don't sell them. You can ask us to see or delete them at any time.
Who we are
Property Energy Guide is a trading name of [OPERATOR NAME], [BUSINESS ADDRESS]. We're the data controller for the information you give us on this website. We're registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, number [ICO NUMBER]. Contact us at hello@propertyenergyguide.co.uk.
What we collect
| Information | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your name, email and mobile number | To send your enquiry to the partner you choose and to contact you about it | Your consent, which you give when you tick the box before sending |
| The property's address, whether you own or let it, your answers about the home and the upgrades you want | So the partner can plan and quote | Your consent |
| The property's energy certificate (EPC) and planning records | We look these up on public government registers using your postcode | Legitimate interests: giving you an accurate picture of your home |
| Optional answers about household income, benefits and your mortgage | To show which grants and payment options may apply. Income and benefit answers are never sent to installers | Your consent. You can skip these questions |
| Which advert or link brought you here, your IP address and browser details | To understand which adverts work, keep the site secure and stop spam | Legitimate interests |
Who we share it with
- The installer or EPC assessor you choose. Nobody else. If you ask us to recommend one, we tell you who before we share anything.
- Forto Finance, a mortgage adviser, but only if you tick the box asking them to contact you.
- Our service providers, who process data for us under contract: Cloudflare (website hosting and security), Resend (sending emails) and [EMAIL PROVIDER] (our email inboxes).
- Public data services, which receive only the postcode you enter: the government's EPC register (Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government), the Planning Data service and postcodes.io.
- Google Fonts, which supplies the typefaces on this site and receives your IP address when the page loads.
Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the UK–US data bridge or the UK's standard contract terms.
We don't sell your data and we don't share it for other companies' marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for 2 years from the last time we were in touch, so we can deal with questions about work that went ahead and keep records of the fees we're paid. After that we delete them. If you ask us to delete them sooner, we will, unless we need to keep a record for a legal reason, such as a dispute or tax.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- stop using it, or stop contacting you
- withdraw your consent. This doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew it, and partners who already have your details hold them under their own privacy notices.
Email hello@propertyenergyguide.co.uk. We'll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've used your data, tell us first and we'll try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
